Elana Morgulis

As a psychotherapist, I work on the level of the heart. I bring warmth, presence, deep empathy, and unconditional compassion to my clients. My work is grounded in mindfulness which allows us to open up to our experience with presence and compassion which supports change rather than judgment which keeps us stuck. I believe we have a natural capacity for growth, healing, and self-actualization which often gets blocked by our beliefs. I blend mindfulness based therapies such as Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Somatic Awareness with other evidence-based modalities such as Internal Family Systems and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. I also draw from Non-Violent Communication to teach effective communication skills.

What I love most about doing therapy is helping people find self-love and grow their self-worth. I’m passionate about providing an emotionally safe and physically comfortable space for people to connect with themselves and express their deepest truths. I feel a deep honor to be a compassionate witness, support, and guide through times of both darkness and light.

The goals of therapy

In order for therapy to be effective, you’ll need to have a strong desire to improve your life and be as open as you can be in sharing your hurt and struggles.

Therapy helps you overcome your problems and move forward in your life. It enables you to get in touch with the deeper parts of yourself so that you trust yourself and others more.

Therapy empowers you to be better able to recognize your strengths and build upon them.

As you progress in therapy, you’ll be more accepting of life’s challenges and become more resilient to future stresses.

Working with me makes it possible for you to have more enjoyment and fun in your life and be kinder to yourself and others.

Life will never be perfect, but you can overcome the past and build the strength to tackle problems in the future.

My counseling style

In my therapy room, I offer a safe place where you’ll be accepted for who you are. You will never be judged. I am compassionate and truly care about your wellbeing.

You’ll feel understood and supported as you strive to overcome your problems to create a more rewarding life.

I trust that there is a deep part of you that knows what you need. I’ll help you get more in touch with that part so that you have more clarity in moving forward.

With my input, you’ll ultimately determine the direction of therapy and the goals you want to achieve.

I will always respect you, your problems, and your process in therapy. My ultimate goal is to help you develop the inner and outer resources to help yourself.

The question is: What is tangling you up? Are you tangled up in anxiety, sadness,& doubt? Are you held by insecurity &uncertainty? Are you slowed by feeling disconnected & getting caught unaware? Have the paths become overgrown and you can’t find or are questioning the sign before you? Growth is about using and building new skills, all of which take time, and nurturing. Growth is about finding solutions that apply to the situation and not just the general world. Both of these are elements of the hope. Hope is something we need to move us through the day, and it does require updating.

We don’t live in isolation, which means it’s very easy to get tangled up and mired in things, situations, people, and feelings that keep us from growing. We need to understand them, so we can cut them away or down, to allow you to move forward with new skills and hope for living.

We don’t learn to tie our shoes or hold a fork instantly. It takes care from those around us to do so, and it isn’t easy. It’s a skill I hope we can find together.

We help clients discover their true self, build meaningful relationships, and change unhelpful life patterns.

Children and teens spend each day in a social and pressured environment.  They can learn, grow, and thrive when they have coping skills, feel empowered, and practice self-care.  We encourage youth to learn more about who they are and how to advocate for their unique and personal needs.

The stress of raising children can be intense.  Our parent coaching helps remove the barriers keeping you from being the best parent you can be. In addition to individual and family therapy, we support couples as part of helping the family be a more effective unit.

Whatever circumstances you may be facing, I am here to walk with you through it. It is my desire to help you live a healthier, more fulfilling life. I specialize in anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, self-esteem/identity issues, life transitions, and women’s issues. I provide a safe space for individuals to develop personal insight and awareness into the unique parts that make up their entire being. I am passionate about traveling with clients on their personal life path and empowering people to flourish.
My approach to psychotherapy blends psychodynamic and existential theoretical orientations with some acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Each orientation emphasizes a different time era – past, future, and present – all of which are necessary in the psychotherapeutic process to promote holistic mental health.
