CA Law and Ethics in the Digital World [evergreen]

This course is appropriate for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs.

This course meets the qualifications for six hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. It meets the requirements for CA 6 CEU Law and Ethics Requirement.

Cathy Hanville, LCSW is a therapist in private practice in Albany, CA. She has been in private practice since 2001. She is a EMDRIA Certified EMDR therapist and also has her WPATH Certificate as a Gender Specialist.

Learning Objectives:
1. Participant will be able to name three CA laws regarding advertising on a website.
2. Participant will be able to name three ethical standards in relationship to advertising on a website.
3. Participant will be describe three ethical standards regarding therapist’s use of using social media.
4. Participant will be able to identify three legal and ethical standards regarding email communication with clients.

Program Goal:
Students will be able to demonstrate fluency with the different ethical and legal issues that arise with the use of technology in their practices.
