Kelly Foster (she/her): 2024 Graduate Candidate
Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, Somatic Emphasis
My presentation highlights how connection through multigenerational relationships via an African-centered lens can inspire a promising future. It expands upon my Group Facilitation project: creating a support group for black men with depression. My interest lies in exploring how Western Colonial pressures have prevented authentic connection to utilize the community to connect with self. In the spirit of Sankofa, as we envision the future, we can look back, learn, and create hope by utilizing the emotional intelligence of our youth to inspire older generations to heal, connect and grow.

Amber Salik (she/her): 2022 Graduate Candidate
Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, Expressive Arts
This presentation explains how rituals and practices of self-care, spirituality and creativity can help new clinicians integrate their personal, professional, and political identities for a cohesive, authentic, and comfortable experience of self. We’ll discuss how to set up a ritual, the importance of authenticity, the core elements of holistic self-care, and some example activities to promote your creative and spiritual exploration for your own authentic engagement.

TyLonnie Saucer (she/her): 2022 Graduate Candidate
Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, Community Mental Health
Thinking critically about the ways Black families interact with school administration. Exploring ways to support the parent/child attachment and alignment, while facilitating repairing ruptures in relationships between teachers and students/parents.
