Abuse Survivor

Christine Knight

February 13, 2023 by Christine Knight

I teach people how to reconnect back to their true Self so they can authentically create healthy relationships and financial abundance | MA Counseling | Solutions Focused Coach | Couples Mediator | Transpersonal Hypnotherapist

WHAT I DO: I am dedicated to helping people reconnect back to the disconnected parts of themselves to bring healing, peace, and abundance into their lives. I will help you navigate your journey toward healing and wholeness.

WHAT YOU GET: Reconnect back to the inner Parts of you who are now creating inner conflict and confusion. Gain clarity of direction. Get aligned with your purpose and bring your Best Self to your relationships, to your family, and to your career. Say yes to a life of fulfillment and abundance!

HOW I DO IT: I’ve been there. I know where you are and how to get you to where you want to be. I experienced a childhood of domestic abuse, trauma, and sexual abuse that has required decades of healing and recovery. My personal journey combined with my education gives me a very unique gift of true compassion and empathy that helps me hold the space of understanding and guidance to you.

WHY ME: I get you. I’ve been there. I know the ramifications of self-protection, disconnection, and survival mechanisms adapted from trauma and abuse that flow strongly into adulthood causing impulsive decisions, relationship issues, self-sabotage, depression, anxiety, and addiction. It is my mission to help as many people as possible overcome these results of trauma and lead a fulfilling and abundant life. Get out of survival mode. Learn to thrive!

This is why I’m so passionate – I was there and trying traditional talk therapy and it wasn’t working. I lost my sh*t in front of a coworker and became DESPERATE to find a solution. A cure. Over the next 10+ years I stumbled and fell – BUT I found the solution. And now I have it mapped out in a sequence of steps that work. I am so honored and happy to bring the solution to you. Don’t spend 10+ years and $80,000 like I did – let me save you precious time and money with a Real Solution – Healing – and Transformation!

I have spent my life unraveling the effects of childhood trauma and the patterns it creates in adult life. Many of us succeed in most areas of life except one or two areas as a result of the trauma experienced in childhood. My area where sabotaging patterns showed up was romantic relationships. For some it’s their parenting. For others, it’s their career.

The journey into and through motherhood invites us to experience intense love and joy, but it also touches our most raw and vulnerable parts. We may experience worries of not being good enough or fears of losing our identity. The practical challenges of becoming a parent (such as breastfeeding and balancing work and home) can be particularly difficult and overwhelming when sleep deprived. Even the strongest/most capable among us sometimes experience stressors that challenge our ability to cope.

The poet John O’Donohue once wrote that our greatest longing is to be seen. I have a warm, accepting style that encourages you to process painful feelings and experiences and move toward healing and growth. My approach is creative and collaborative— based on your unique experience, strengths, and challenges. Drawing from humanistic and experiential theory, I incorporate positive psychology, mindfulness, and expressive arts to help clients accept themselves, challenge maladaptive thoughts, authentically connect with those they care about, and slow down and experience the moment.

As a therapist and mother, I understand how difficult it can be to take time for yourself when you may feel like you are barely keeping up with the demands of life and motherhood. But I also know that taking the time now, to increase self-awareness can move you beyond mere survival and transform your experience of motherhood. I invite you to discover meaning in your new role as a mother, connect with inner strengths and wisdom and recreate harmony and meaning in your life.

Thomas Perkins

I specialize in empowering people who have experienced trauma, depression, and anxiety to access their innate resilience and healing which persist in spite of stressful life circumstances. It inspires me to make restorative connections with people built on mutual trust, safety compassion, and positive regard to get results, I combine trauma-focused and trauma-informed CBT with integrative mind-body practices, psychodynamic/psychoanalytic techniques, and Mindfulness breathwork, which together promote healing on a conscious and unconscious level.

My journey as a therapist started seven years ago during a nine year career as a high school teacher and interim dean of students. While I love children, I ultimately realized my true path lies in serving others in the clinical realm working with adults. I have always been passionate about nutrition, hiking, mental health, exercise/athletics, dreams, music, art, and spirituality, and like Carl Jung, I believe that it is who you are that heals rather than simply what you know.

An ideal patient for me is three-fold: you are a person who is committed to finding your true essence, you are interested in dreams and open to writing them down, and you are seeking to love yourself and others more compassionately. While dreams can be an important resource during therapy, they are not a prerequisite for working with me. I am privileged to be your fellow traveler, and I look forward to joining you on a path of self discovery.

Courageous Living Skills Class

March 19, 2021 by Wendy Taylor

If you are a WOMAN who has experienced more than your fair share of pain, this group is for you.

Do you find that you must show up everyday and be BRAVE just to make it through?

Press the PAUSE button on shame spirals, panic attacks, isolation, confusion and all sorts of unpleasant experiences that have taken your JOY, POWER and SELF-CONFIDENCE.

The COURAGEOUS LIVING SKILLS CLASS is a space where you can LEARN to:

– land in the present moment

– breathe with greater ease

– create community with women who ‘get it’

– use skills and techniques that make living easier

When awful things happen, it is human nature that we close ourselves to experiences that could lead to more hurt. What many people don’t learn, though, is how to unlock the pain and grief that is held within.

We’ve got you.

Within the Courageous Living Skills Class, we welcome you and all parts of you. For 1 hour per week, you are invited to learn simple tools and practice simple skills that will magnify clarity and calm in your life.

We are focused on removing the blocks that are keeping you from living an empowered life as well as keeping a focus on where you want to go and building habits that will get you there.

You will never be pressed to share more than you want. Your privacy is important. Everything you do talk about in the group is just for us to know and work through together.

Understand more about what happens to people when they encounter overwhelming experiences, get to know your individual strengths, the strengths of your community and positively transform your life and the life of those around you.

NEXT Step?

Call or email our office to schedule an intake chat. This gives Wendy and Marissa an opportunity to get to know you better, to answer any questions you have about the group and will also serve as an opportunity to support you with preparing for the learning and growing experience ahead.

Relational Growth Group for Bodies of Culture

January 22, 2021 by Karla Amanda Brown

For adults who are ready to go from internal turmoil and suffering as the result of old wounds to thriving with internal safety and social confidence!

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to better understand your inner world and how to:

– slow down or completely stop being triggered & high jacked

– quiet the inner critic or inner perfectionist that sabotages your greatest efforts

– release yourself from the grip of stuck, stale and painful relationship patterns

This group uses Internal Family Systems (IFS) as a foundation for teaching about parts of your personality and exploring how they interact with each other. Group members will learn to recognize and identify those emotions, thoughts and reactions that create internal and external challenges throughout life. Sessions will include getting to know those parts of ourselves, and learning how to access the core qualities of a Self that is present within all of us.

With others, you will have an opportunity to:

– Work through discomfort and anxiety so that you can achieve the level of closeness and intimacy you desire

– Courageously connect with vulnerability and anger rather than engaging in avoidance and repression

– Experiment with expression of Self which will help you to increase assertiveness, self-confidence and calm

– Practice welcoming all of your parts while increasing presence, awareness and mindfulness

IFS is a powerful tool that can help you achieve greater well-being and balance by not only becoming more aware of these internal patterns, but by going toward them with curiosity and compassion to better understand and heal them.

Get to know your Self better, understand why you act the way you do, and develop a toolkit you can use to empower your sense of courage and creativity.
