Courageous Living Skills Class

March 19, 2021 by Wendy Taylor

If you are a WOMAN who has experienced more than your fair share of pain, this group is for you.

Do you find that you must show up everyday and be BRAVE just to make it through?

Press the PAUSE button on shame spirals, panic attacks, isolation, confusion and all sorts of unpleasant experiences that have taken your JOY, POWER and SELF-CONFIDENCE.

The COURAGEOUS LIVING SKILLS CLASS is a space where you can LEARN to:

– land in the present moment

– breathe with greater ease

– create community with women who ‘get it’

– use skills and techniques that make living easier

When awful things happen, it is human nature that we close ourselves to experiences that could lead to more hurt. What many people don’t learn, though, is how to unlock the pain and grief that is held within.

We’ve got you.

Within the Courageous Living Skills Class, we welcome you and all parts of you. For 1 hour per week, you are invited to learn simple tools and practice simple skills that will magnify clarity and calm in your life.

We are focused on removing the blocks that are keeping you from living an empowered life as well as keeping a focus on where you want to go and building habits that will get you there.

You will never be pressed to share more than you want. Your privacy is important. Everything you do talk about in the group is just for us to know and work through together.

Understand more about what happens to people when they encounter overwhelming experiences, get to know your individual strengths, the strengths of your community and positively transform your life and the life of those around you.

NEXT Step?

Call or email our office to schedule an intake chat. This gives Wendy and Marissa an opportunity to get to know you better, to answer any questions you have about the group and will also serve as an opportunity to support you with preparing for the learning and growing experience ahead.

Jennie Runde

December 4, 2020 by Jennie Runde

I am a mixed (Black biracial) clinician working with mixed and multi-heritage folks in my private practice. I am trained as an expressive arts therapist, and use expressive arts including art, creative writing, and movement to help folks improve communication, connection, and contentment.

I believe that all of us, including and especially those of us that do not often see ourselves reflected in the world around us, have to use our creativity to create the world as we need it to be, as opposed to how it is.

Mike Johnson

You ever feel like cocooning? You know, when you just want to shut out the world. For many, it happens when relating to others feels draining, work is no longer fulfilling, or when it’s hard to feel good about anything. Life feels so heavy that it’s as if there’s no way out. This is how depression and anxiety can feel.
Depression, anger, shame and anxiety can rob us of a sense of control over our lives. But there is hope. You can feel energized and joyful again. Life can feel light and fun. You can have a reason to smile again. Through a collaborative relationship, we can help you to figure out the causes of your distress and develop a plan for taking back control.
I’ve spent two decades helping people remove obstacles to living a more fulfilling life. To start, we’ll discuss your functioning, goals for therapy and our plan to help you achieve those goals. We’ll identify changes you can make to experience a life of freedom and optimism. You can start to reclaim your life from depression and anxiety now by contacting me.

Kat Zwick

Ride the wave…

Ride the wave is an expression that reminds us that sorrow, pain, happiness, triggers, relapses, slips, high highs, low lows, and everything in-between need not be waves that consume us, overtake us, define us, or drown us; rather we can gently and skillfully navigate these waves, from the surface, as if on a psychological or spiritual surfboard, with the help of others, our Wise Mind, our Higher Power, or Self, or Source keeping us afloat.

Land Acknowledgment

Our offices in Santa Cruz sit on the unceded territory of the Awaswas, one of the eight divisions of the Ohlone people. Their descendants are known today as the Amah-Mutsun Tribal Band. You can learn more about their conservation efforts that continue to this day and consider a donation HERE. Our offices in Oakland sit on the unceded territory of the Bay Miwok, also of the Ohlone people. Some of their descendants are members of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe.

We honor the history that precedes us, we are grateful for the opportunity to work and live here and offer healing and relationship to clients and each other, on these indigenous peoples’ traditional homelands.

Please join us in taking a moment of silence to pay respect to all Ohlone people past and present.

IN RECOVERY, ABOVE ALL, WE HAVE OPTIONS, AND REMEMBERING WE HAVE OPTIONS HELPS US RIDE THE WAVE.
