Hyphenated No More: A Group for Asian Americans

December 16, 2020 by Eileen Drapiza-Dornan

As an Asian American, who are you really? Do you live in the hyphen between cultures, neither 100% this, not 100% that? Do you sometimes feel left out or forgotten in discussions about race? Not Black, not white. Perhaps you have ethnic pride, but it’s such a quiet pride that it means you still get overlooked. Explore the self and desires you’ve kept suppressed as a result of a lifetime of honoring your parents’ or other elder’s wishes, or because you were taught to care for others even at the expense of your SELF. Maybe you are or have been good at academic achievement, but relationships are rougher-going territory. Join us as you find your voice, give and get support and encouragement, find a safe environment where you can start to take healthy risks. Gather and tell your story, share your dreams, be reflected, feel connected.

Attention will also be given to helping you notice and process your own internal sensations, helping you to better self-regulate. This will prepare you to get the most out of therapy if and when you decide to follow up with deeper individual work.

This Zoom-based group, limited to 6 people, meets twice a month and meets a total of 8 times on alternate Friday afternoons, for 2 hours from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. The cost is $400, payable via PayPal to eileendrapizaMFT@gmail.com upon registration, or two payments of $210 (1st payment due upon registration, 2nd due by Feb. 19). Note for UC Berkeley students: I will accept SHIP, with standard co-pay.

As I am running this as therapy group, I am unable to accept participants from outside the State of CA (due to licensing restrictions) for this particular group. If you reside outside of CA and have an interest, please get in touch anyway. If there is enough interest, I may eventually adapt my approach and offer it as a “wellness” workshop open to all.

To register, email me with “Hyphenated No More Registration” in the subject line.

Free Drop-In: To learn more, join a free drop-in meet&greet on Dec. 11 at 5 o’clock. To get the link email me using “Hyphenated No More Free Drop-In” in the subject line.

Whatever circumstances you may be facing, I am here to walk with you through it. It is my desire to help you live a healthier, more fulfilling life. I specialize in anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, self-esteem/identity issues, life transitions, and women’s issues. I provide a safe space for individuals to develop personal insight and awareness into the unique parts that make up their entire being. I am passionate about traveling with clients on their personal life path and empowering people to flourish.
My approach to psychotherapy blends psychodynamic and existential theoretical orientations with some acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Each orientation emphasizes a different time era – past, future, and present – all of which are necessary in the psychotherapeutic process to promote holistic mental health.
I currently offer video and phone sessions. I accept BCBS PPO or self-pay.

Caroliny Moura
Certified Life & Wellness Coach

I’ve helped my clients envision what’s possible for their lives while doing deep transformative work. I have experienced first hand what it is like to be in a place of transition, where one feels stuck, misunderstood and lost. My goal with my clients is to support them and empower them to live a life that is authentic and aligned to their core values. Together we can explore and create a roadmap designed for their unique journey. Which will result in a happier, healthier, more meaningful life.

In addition to my passion for transforming lives, I have extensive experience within the corporate realm and was given the opportunity to work closely with C-level executives to support different teams in creating wellness for employees. I currently hold a degree in International Relations with a minor in Human Sexuality. Furthermore, I am now a certified coach who is in love with the path I have created for myself and fully committed to achieving a happier and healthier life.

You can find me spending quality time with my husband, friends and family, meditating, dancing my heart out, relaxing and/or connecting with nature. I also spend a great deal of time delving into my personal and professional development. Most importantly, I am an advocate for loving and investing in myself.

Nadia Santiago

April 22, 2020 by Nadia Santiago

Hi there ✋😁

I’m a Transformative Fitness, Nutrition, and Wellness Coach. I’m on a mission to motivate and inspire individuals to live their best lives by leading fun, but effective dance, strength, and yoga classes, AND by sharing engaging online content. I’ve been teaching group classes and leading one on one personal training sessions for more than eight years, but I’ve got a lifetime of experience with physical activity! So movement is in my blood.

What I love more than anything is sharing the experience of movement with others. And I truly believe that the best way to exercise, for strength, better health, and happiness, is to do something you enjoy! That’s why I aim to make every session fun!

I really love to work with individuals and groups that have a passion for learning and are open to slightly unconventional methods of practicing yoga/exercising. As a personal trainer, I’ve got quite a bit of experience tailoring programs to fit the needs of my students and clients. So whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned practitioner, I’m happy to create a plan that is designed specifically for you.

For more information about my offerings, feel free to head over to my website, which is linked above. You can also check out the Transform with Nadia Facebook Fanpage to stay up to date on upcoming events.
