My presentation is a clinician-focused analysis of the autism-spectrum traits that may appear in Black children. The focus group is Pre-K through 1st-grade students or 3-7 years of age. The goal of my presentation is to foster critical thinking skills on cultural barriers to diagnosis, as well as provide creative solutions to achieve early diagnosis.

My presentation draws on undergraduate work with adolescent girls of African ascent in Vistación Valley in San Francisco, I designed a 10-week Expressive Arts Therapy workshop during my graduate studies at CIIS to address feelings of limitation, empower participants to explore new possibilities, and devise self-care techniques to combat anxiety and depression.
